Skymetric: Architecture Abstracted by Lino Russo

Lino Russo is a graphic designer, who is currently a student at the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples, Italy. In the project Skymetric (a combination of the words sky and geometric), Russo has taken photographs of interesting architectural sites. The buildings shown are abstracted by the photos’ composition and lack of extraneous detail or context. Even the sky is a cloud-free, consistent block of blue. In fact, the images call to mind the paintings of Piet Mondrian, or the current trend of color blocking, rather than typical architectural photography. As the artist describes this minimalist style: “Simplicity and cleanliness reign supreme.”
