“I Love Summer” Captures the Splash at the End of a Water Slide

Photographer Krista Long captured these stunning images of people shooting out the end of a water slide for her series I Love Summer. The high-speed photos show the subjects, and the splashes of water around them, frozen in mid-air.

They remind me of the meme showing Olympic divers’ strange expressions mid-dive, but the models here are regular people having fun at a water park. Long was actually inspired to begin the project by taking pictures of her daughters and friends during a vacation. Some of the swimmers appear more graceful than others, but I think it’s their unique positions which make the photos beautiful and interesting.

“I wanted every little water droplet to stand out and really capture, emphasize and isolate the facial expressions and the body positions,” Long says. “I think it’s so fun just to watch everybody come out of this thing. It is just pure entertainment for me.”
