Kika Magalhaes creates digital art that feels remarkably tactile, using overlapping lines and scribbles to build dense, energetic environments. In Visual Library, the artist layers vertical black bars and a grid of orange lines over blurred patches of blue, red, and yellow. These marks have a loose, spontaneous quality that suggests a traditional painting being worked and reworked. I find the way the thin black strokes sit atop the brighter washes of colour particularly effective at creating a sense of depth.
This approach continues in Constructions and Deconstructions, where the palette remains warm but the shapes become more geometric. You can see orange triangles and a blue cylinder-like shape with a red end emerging from a white background. While Faith, love and hope introduces thick dark blue strokes and a shape resembling a bird’s head, Emersions in orange and yellow 3 is a more frantic cluster of curved sweeps and sharp angles. These various marks do not form recognisable objects, yet they carry a distinct emotional weight through their movement and colour by Kika Magalhaes.
