These “urban collages” are created by street artist Olivier Perrot. He works in Vitry-sur-Seine, a suburb of Paris, France. For each work, he takes an archival image — such as a black-and-white photo or a postcard — and overlays it with silhouettes of people in basic, bold colours like red, blue, yellow, and green. They are then pasted on walls in the city. I particularly enjoy the contrast between the historic images and the more modern use of colour (and adding technology through the use of QR codes beside the works). I also like how the artist appears to choose images taken near the locations where he is placing his completed works.
