Yuri Shwedoff’s Digital Art Based on Classic Sci-Fi Themes

Beware of Giant Robots! - Art by Yuri Shwedoff

This science fiction art is by Russian artist Yuri Shwedoff. Some of his pieces are about specific films and TV shows, including a design featuring toiletries and other amenities from Bates Motel, the location of Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. However, many of these particular pieces simply reference common sci-fi themes. Beware of Giant Robots! shows a man and dog on a ridge, with a vintage-toy-like robot in the background. Birds of War shows bomber planes in the sky, while a smoking man in silhouette is in the foreground. A boy stands before a large, mysterious white orb in I See You, while a young girl points a gun at a giant rubber duckie in The End. One of my favorite pieces is Oreo, which shows a giant cookie in the sky — like a UFO or flying saucer over a deserted highway. Some of the digital art uses photographs as a source material, but they are highly edited and combined with painted effects. You can also buy several of his sci-fi inspired works as art prints, t-shirts, and more, from the artist.
