Stefan Bleihauer, from Monchengladbach, Germany, has photographed architecture and construction or industrial sites for his series Amber. “I want to draw attention to the things that are usually overlooked,” he says, and he finds these functional, esoteric places surprisingly photogenic. A few of the pieces remind me of another work we’ve featured on the arthaus blog: Skymetric by Lino Russo. Both feature architecture in a way that is tightly-cropped and highlights its colorful geometric shapes. However, not all of Bleihauer’s work is quite so abstracted. The buildings are recognizable as buildings, and piles of sand, cranes, and machinery are visible in some of the pictures.
