Anatomical Portraits by Salvatore Zanfrisco Reveal Contents of Our Mind

Anatomy of - Drawing by Salvatore Zanfrisco

These fascinating portraits use anatomical drawing techniques, with cutaways that are filled with representations of not only what is in our bodies — bones, muscles and blood vessels — but also what lies in our heart, mind and soul. Each portrait in the Anatomy of series shows the individual’s hobbies, interests, and even fears. This is done using animals, movie and video game characters, candy bars, musical instruments, and a variety of other objects and symbols. The subjects’ faces are drawn in black pen on paper, while the inner layers use blue and red ink. They are drawn by Salvatore Zanfrisco, who is from Milan, Italy. The artist says he can create custom illustrations upon request, and I think that would be nifty to have a unique conversation piece like this!
