In Nicola Alessandrini‘s Beautiful People, these “people” are a creative combination of human and animal parts that go far beyond the typical centaurs and satyrs of mythology. One image is a woman with the giant snarling head of a wolf, while another uses skulls of rams, humans, and fish. These illustrations contain complex patterns and semi-transparent layers of bright color. Each is a digital collage, with line quality varying throughout each image. Some areas are more detailed than others, and the effect is as if some areas were printed from a distressed woodcut and others were sketched by hand. Alessandrini is from Italy.
