Lourenco’s Rumble in the Jungle Features “Wild” Animal Characters

Pedro Lourenço, an illustrator from Lisbon, Portugal, shows a wild imagination in his series Rumble in the Jungle. These character studies show anthropomorphic animals with wacky hair styles, hats, glasses, and other accessories. The artist appears to create black ink brush drawings, and then adds just two or three layers of flat color to areas of each drawing. Animals also feature heavily in his other illustrations, including a more naturalistic drawing of birds that was recently featured in the New York Times, but cites these images as some of his favorites.

If you enjoy these human-looking animal portraits, you might also like the work of Animal Crew available in arthaus’s shop.
