In this gorgeous series of images by Hungarian photographer Ákos Major, he captures the simple beauty of Waters. Many different bodies of water are featured, from oceans to inland lakes and rivers.
His work includes photos from Thailand, Germany, the U.S., his native Hungary, and many other countries. Although the photos were taken in locations all across the globe, they have a similar colour palette and I feel like they could have been taken moments apart in the same place. Many of them feel foggy and atmospheric. Most of his photos are shot on film.
Some show nothing but sea and sky, while others show the people and their impact on the environment – through fishing, beachcombing and foraging, or more industrial pursuits. While the minimal landscapes are interesting for their natural colours and patterns, I like the ones best where people are shown — often tiny and distant in comparison to the vastness of the bodies of water.
