A Beautiful Introvert: Miniature Set Design by Katy Strutz

A Beautiful Introvert - Art by Katy Strutz

This dollhouse by Katy Strutz is a fantastic example of creative, miniature set design. The exterior of the home is dark and run-down, while the interior is full of bright yellows and cozy furniture. This contrast helps tell the story of the home’s owner, who is A Beautiful Introvert.

From the artist’s description of the project: “It’s not that Edmund Wang doesn’t care about his home. On the contrary, it is the world outside of it that completely disinterests him. Though from the outside this little house may seem broken and abandoned, hidden within it’s walls is a world of warmth and light. Here he resides with his three welsh corgis, Martha, Maisie and Biscuit, safely hidden away in the one place in the world he feels safe to be himself.”

I especially love the little details, such as the Alfons Mucha art posters on the walls, the corgi calendar, and the basket of knitting supplies. As an introvert myself, I can relate some to the character’s struggles. This is a work in progress, so I can’t wait to see the finished project. Strutz is a student at the Rhode Island School of Design.
