These larger-than-life line drawings are by Françoise Pétrovitch. They are deceptively simple renderings of people (many of them children) and animals in either red or blue, with minimal shading. The subjects remind me of children’s storybook illustrations, but with a slightly ambiguous edge. I particularly like the way many of the pieces are “cut off” by the doorways, ceilings, and other walls; leaving them to continue only in your imagination. The way multiple images in the same exhibit — but on different walls — work together is also interesting. She is from Cachan, France.
